Desk Excercises guide

Exercises to do at Your Desk – Burn Calories and Avoid RSI

Most technology and web related work requires sitting at your desk all day long and clicking at the computer. Before repetitive stress injuries get the better of you, add some simple exercises and stretching to your workday.

I keep this info-comic illustration by Yumi Sakugawa on my desktop to remind me to stretch through out the day. She provides simple body, neck and wrist stretches to keep your body from getting stiff.

The “Water Bottle weightlifting” looks a bit like the Shake Weight, which I would pay to watch anyone do in the cubicle at their office!

Knitting an actual dissection tray

Knitting in Biology 101 in an actual dissection tray

Wow your scientist friends and colleagues with the coolness of this piece of knitted art. The frog is hand knit from a silk/wool blend, and his little innards are needle-felted by hand out of 100% wool. He comes pinned into his actual dissection tray (never used!), but he is not glued down, so you can take him out and cuddle him if you wish.

Designed and hand knitted by The Crafty Hedgehog. $95 a pop.

Guild membership is not required; in fact the idea is to have graphic artists of all kinds attend. A round of complimentary appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. Additional food and beverages (including booze) are available for purchase, since Dinah’s is, after all, a restaurant.

Guitar Lessons by Max

Max Dalton, an illustrator from Argentina, has created a new poster featuring the rock guitar heroes of all times. Featuring: Frank Zappa, George Harrison, Slash, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Brian May, Johnny Ramone, Jack White, The Edge, Chuck Berry, Angus Young, Pete Townshend, Tony Iommi, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour, Ace Frehley, Ritchie Blackmore, Duane Allman, Kirk Hammett, Carlos Santana, John Frusciante, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kurt Cobain, Mike Bloomfield, Jerry Garcia, Ry Cooder, Bo Diddley, Jeff Beck, Tom Morello, Brian Setzer and Peter Green.

I tried to include all my rock guitar heroes of all times and some other that I don’t like that much but I thought they deserve at least to appear on the list.

Well done, Max. Prints available on his website.
